Microchips and Music : Village Veterinary's 3rd Annual Microchip Clinic.
On May 30th 2009, Village Veterinary of Tequesta held it 3rd annual microchip clinic inviting the community for low-cost microchips, kitty adoptions, great music provided by local musicians (Gary Frost, Mike Paparo and Dave Allen of "The Faders", informational booths from Busch Wildlife Center, Save the Chimps and Greyhound Pets of America as well as a silent auctions with donated storm related supplies.
Understanding that storm awareness and pet recoverey go hand -in-hand and being concerned about the thousands of pets that get lost during catastrophic events they hoped to reduce the number by offering low cost microchipping to the community.
30 to 60% of lost pets in shelters are euthanized because they cannot be properly identified and returned to their owner.
Collar tags identify lost pets but can easily come off or be removed. Microchipping is permanent, completely unalterable and does not change or harm the appearance of the animal in any way. There are universal scanners that will pick up all chips.
