    • Celebrating 50 years in the the Palm Beaches, the Palm Beach Opera held a Golden Jubilee on January 20, 2012 at the Kravis Center in West Palm. Renowned Baritone Sherill Milnes and Palm Beach Opera General Directir Daniel Biaggi co-hosted the vening which featured performances from La Traviata, La Boheme, Aida and more with appearnces by Sarah Joy Miller, Ruth Ann Swenson, Angela Brown, Denyce Graves-Montgomery, Lauren McNeese, Brandon Jovanovich, Atalla Ayan and Daniel Sutin.

LAURA TURNBULL (Marie Lombardi) is delighted to return to the Mosaic Theatre where she was last seen in Tom Stoppard's Rock'N'Roll. This past season she was fortunate enough to be in the critically acclaimed production of August: Osage County (Actors' Playhouse), the hugely popular, A Round-Heeled Woman, starring Sharon Gless, (GableStage), and the hit, world premiere, of Motherhood, the Musical (Miniaci Theatre). Her other recent credits include: The Cha-Cha of a Camel Spider (Florida Stage), Distracted (Caldwell Theatre) and Equus (New Theatre). Laura was honored with the Silver Palm award for her body of work in 2010. She has worked in every professional theatre in South Florida and has been nominated for, and won, numerous Carbonell awards. Prior to making Florida her home, Laura performed on Broadway, Off Broadway, toured nationally, and worked regionally. The Playground Theatre presents the world premiere of the Red Thread  on April 13, 2011 Fernando Calzadilla, The PlayGround’s Resident Artist, has more than thirty years experience in cultural production. Previous PlayGround credits include co-writer and set, costume and lighting designer for Inanna and the Huluppu Tree. A theatre practitioner, visual and performance artist, and doctoral candidate in Performance Studies at New York University, Mr. Calzadilla weaves hands-on experience with theory to expand the scope of his art.  He has won thirteen regional and national awards for his design work in Caracas, Venezuela including Best Costume Design for Salieri (2007) and Best Set Design for Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days (2008).

She has a successful media career; he owns a small landscaping business. Both begin to romanticize their chance reunion, but a renewed connection is disrupted when Ray reveals the sordid details of a crime that left him incarcerated for ten years. Their encounter reveals two vastly different paths taken and two lonely souls attempting to reclaim a moment of possibility, when they were young and perhaps at their very best.Jenny McKnight (Molly) is a Florida native, and is very happy to return to the Sunshine State to work on this lovely play. After earning an MFA at The University of Alabama, Jenny moved to Chicago, where she has been fortunate to appear in Talking Pictures and The Actor at the Goodman Theatre; Pride and Prejudice at Northlight Theatre; Old Times at Remy Bumppo Theatre; Frozen, The Laramie Project and The Incident at Next Theatre; Ariadne's Thread at Victory Gardens Theatre, Three Tall Women at Apple Tree Theatre, multiple shows with Eclipse Theatre, where she was a company member; as well as work with Steppenwolf Theatre, Redmoon Theater, Chicago Dramatists and others.     • Arts Inspire...Canvases to Life

    • Engaging students from Broward County Magnet Elementary Schools (Bethune Elementary, Deerfield Park Elementary and Walker Elementary) Lu Welters, Director of the Jubilee Dance Theatre and Jonathan Green, a visual artist, encourage an understanding of his work through visual arts and dance interpretation. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the School Board of Broward County work together to create enriching, curriculum based arts workshops.  The workshop and student Showcase took place at the Broward Center for Performing Arts on Monday November 8, 2010.  
    • Mosaic Theatre - Collected Stories

    • The newest production at the Mosaic Theatre in Plantation will be "Collected Stories," the acclaimed drama by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies chronicles the relationship between two female writers - a celebrated New York author and her young protégé. As their fascinating story evolves, and the line between fact and fiction blurs, the twists and turns of this complex relationship weave a play that's as smart and witty as it is powerful.     • TWENTY Years at the Broward Center

    • The kick off of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts 20th Anniversary season began with the premier of the new season of Broadway Across America and Mel Brook's YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.   Celebrities and special guests were on hand and there were plenty of surprises inside and outside the Center.  The TWENTY celebration includes iconic art work by Romero Britto (including the anniversary logo), the start of the Young Ambassadors program, commemorative Twentytinis were served (in laboratory test tubes) and even the Frankenstein Monster, his bride and Igor were there to mingle with the opening night crowd. Everyone wa certainly "Puttin' on the Ritz."

    • Area High School students offered new opportunity to play a role in the artsThe Broward Center for the Performing Arts is launching the Broward Center Teen Ambassador Program for Broward County high school students who are interested in the performing arts.Teen Ambassadors will provide their peers with a unique link to the performing arts by attending various performances, including Broadway touring shows, at the Broward Center, and writing reviews for immediate posting, tweeting and Facebook status updating. Each participant will receive a Broward Center Teen Ambassador I.D. badge, earn community service hours and gain a better understanding of working behind the scenes at an arts organization that is consistently ranked in the top 10 venues in the world.“The Broward Center is committed to expanding the learning opportunities for high school students in our community. With the launch of the Teen Ambassador program, we hope to engage students in the arts in a new, exciting way and encourage their active participation allowing them to gain new perspectives on the performing arts and share valuable insights with their peers,” said Kelley Shanley, president and CEO of the Broward Center. “The Teen Ambassador Program is a learning opportunity for us as well.
