Military Working Dogs have played a vital role in our nation's history from world war two to present. During the Vietnam War canine soldiers and their handlers are estimated to have prevented as many as 10,000 deaths. Up until 2000 these dogs were euthanized at the end of their service. These are highly trained four footed soldiers with duties such as Sentries, Scout, Booby Trap, Yunnel, Mine and Tracker.
In 200o public law 106-446 was passed allowing the adoption of DoD canines.
