Susan Danis recently moved from Sarasota to South Florida to take the helm of the Florida Grand Opera.
While Ms. Danis has only been on the job a few weeks, it has been full steam ahead. An exciting season is set to commence Nov. 17 featuring La Bohème, The Magic Flute, La Sonnambula and La Traviata. And the task of bolstering the opera’s budget lies ahead.
Born in Connecticut, Ms. Danis’ travels have taken her from East to West Coast of the US and to France, where she earned her MBA.
Her business acumen paired with her love of the arts made her the ideal candidate for the job of leading the Florida Grand Opera into its next exciting season and beyond.
We won’t find Ms. Danis participating in one of her favorite pastimes here in Miami. Unfortunately, there are only the staircases in high-rises to climb rather than hills. But this avid hiker may pop up next to you at a performance of the Florida Grand Opera.
She likes to watch each performance from a different seat in the house.
Miami Today reporter Laura Stace interviewed Ms. Danis at the Florida Grand Opera headquarters in Doral. As we spoke, the sound of some of the best singers in the country rehearsing for the season ahead echoed throughout the building.
