Eduardo C. Alfonso, MD, is the new chairman of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Alfonso is the fifth chairman to be named in the institute’s 47-year history.
In an interview with Miami Today’s Zachary Fagenson, Dr. Alfonso discussed future funding for research and the role Bascom Palmer Eye Institute plays in the development of medical breakthroughs. Dr. Alfonso also considered the future of health care and what that could mean for the business and operational side of Bascom Palmer.
