  • The Dow has crossed 10,000 more than two dozen times in the past decade so there has been no net improvement in real terms adjusted for inflation during that time. With that in mind, what is the real purchasing power of a Dow that has made no real progress in now what has been more than a decade. The Dow in fact this year is negative when its rise is measured in terms of gold because although the Dow has risen, the Dow's rise is not as much as gold's rise. In other words, gold has risen more than the rise of the Dow this year. Furthermore, over the past ten years when the Dow has gone nowhere, gold has quadrupled. Let's try to look at these topics not in nominal terms but in more comparative terms and parallels so that we can have a broader and deeper understanding, particularly in relation to our purchasing power and the context of long term secular bear markets for certain asset classes that do nothing over extended periods of time. http://cormackcapital.wordpress.com

  • Helen, I honestly would love to know how you come up with these wackos to interview. I swear he's been sucking his thumb way too long, if his speech is any indication. With the unemployment over 10% in Florida...HELLO, and the Feds are printing money as fast as they can, with the Federal debt quadrupled in 2010, the Dems [unfortunately I'm a Dem} have had control of Congress since they won in 2006. That's 3 years people! What does Bush or for that matter FDR have anything to do with it? Bush's stim I was against @ $465 Billion then the Dems turn around and double it, get out 9000 non stimulus pork projects? Then they give billions to AIG, Bank bailouts, Auto bailouts? They own damn near everything  then they want to screw up the ENTIRE private insurance plan just to cover 12 % of the population that will never have or keep a job. As if to add icing to a cake, he wants everyone to agree to his plan that he won't publish  so everyone can see it. Currently, still unpublished, I can't believe I voted for this idiot. "Fool me once I'm the fool! This fella, with the lollipop, talks about how good the economy looks. Thousands of people in foreclosure and without a job will stanchly disagree.
